What do I need to send for a quote?
Five details let us quote accurately on the first reply:
- Model and trim — or the use case, if you want a recommendation. See the GAC model catalogue.
- Quantity — from one unit; bulk orders go to our fleet team.
- Steering side — most vehicles are left-hand drive (LHD); right-hand drive (RHD) depends on availability.
- Destination country and port — this decides the shipping method and documents.
- Price terms — FOB (China port) or CIF (your port).
Which price terms can I use?
Vehicle export quotes normally use the International Chamber of Commerce's Incoterms® 2020 rules, which define who pays for and carries the risk at each stage. The two most common for vehicles are:
| Term | Seller arranges | Buyer arranges |
|---|---|---|
| FOB — Free On Board | Vehicle, inland transport to the China port, export clearance, loading on the vessel | Ocean freight, insurance, import clearance, duties and local delivery |
| CIF — Cost, Insurance & Freight | Everything under FOB plus ocean freight and minimum insurance to the destination port | Unloading, import clearance, duties and local delivery |
Under both terms, import duties and taxes in your country are paid by the buyer. Read our guide to FOB vs CIF for vehicle shipping for worked examples.
What happens after I confirm the order?
We issue a proforma invoice (PI) that sets out the vehicle, configuration, colour, quantity, price terms, payment terms and timeline. After payment, we secure the vehicles, coordinate inspection and prepare them for shipping. At each milestone you receive a photo or video confirming the status of your vehicle.
How are vehicles shipped?
Vehicles travel by car carrier to the port of loading and then ship by one of two methods. We compare both for your route and order size.
- Ro-Ro (roll-on/roll-off) — vehicles are driven onto a specialised car-carrier vessel. Usually economical for larger batches to ports with regular car-carrier services.
- Container — vehicles are lashed inside 20-foot or 40-foot containers, often on two-tier frames. Better protection from weather and handling, suits mixed-model orders, and reaches ports without Ro-Ro services.
Mixed-model orders are accepted, and we plan container loading to save on shipping costs. See Ro-Ro vs container shipping for the trade-offs.
Which documents come with the vehicles?
Documents are prepared to match your destination's import requirements. A typical vehicle export set includes:
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Bill of lading (B/L) issued by the shipping line
- Certificate of origin
- Vehicle documents identifying each unit by VIN
- Inspection certificates where your country requires pre-shipment inspection
Customs authorities classify passenger cars under heading 87.03 of the World Customs Organization's Harmonized System; your customs broker uses the full national code to calculate duty. Tell us your country so we can check the paperwork before shipping — see market notes by region.
How long does delivery take?
For in-stock vehicles, shipment can be arranged within 10 working days after payment. Custom or specific models depend on sourcing and preparation. Ocean transit time depends on the route and sailing schedule; we confirm both in your quotation.
Common questions
How long does it take to ship an in-stock GAC vehicle?
For in-stock vehicles, shipment can be arranged within 10 working days after payment. Custom or specific models depend on sourcing and preparation, and our sales team confirms the timeline in your quotation.
Should I choose FOB or CIF?
Choose FOB if you already work with a freight forwarder and want to control the ocean freight. Choose CIF if you want us to book the shipping and insurance to your destination port. Tell us which you prefer when you request a quote.
Ro-Ro or container — which is better?
Ro-Ro usually suits larger batches to ports with regular car-carrier calls. Containers protect vehicles from weather and handling, let you combine several vehicles, and reach more ports. We compare both for your route.
